In the mountains of North Georgia, in the small town of Dahlonega, Kaya Vineyard & Winery sits on rolling hills of verdant beauty. An impressive vineyard with an estate on the land that shares a gorgeous panoramic view of the mountains.
When you’re sitting on their covered deck, a 2300 square foot veranda, looking over the expanse of the Vineyard, you can understand why the Werkheizer family felt it was necessary to purchase the land in 2017 and aim to create one of North Georgia’s “can’t miss” attractions. And what better place to start than the wine?
Each estate-grown grape is hand-harvested and then processed using European and Italian techniques that create a unique blend. Aged in-house in their winery and tasting room. Kaya Vineyard & Winery has established itself as a premier location in not only Dahlonega, Ga but all of the South East.
Since its opening in 2017, this lovely place built atop a ridge and its events team has hosted many different occasions. From rehearsal dinners, weddings, and receptions, full catering services, full wedding day setups, engagements, and a covered deck with live music. If you have an event and you’re looking for that certain something to put it over the top, then Kaya may be the place for you.
Oh, and being able to fly my drone to grab some more expansive shots of the mountains just made me love it even more. Being able to see the full expanse of this Dahlonega resort and vineyard was something that left me in awe. That said, I believe I’m gushing a little bit at the moment.
This was an engagement after all.
Kaya Vineyard & Winery Engagement
Ben and Carlin were electric in every sense of the word. Our engagement session was full of laughter and fun. Ben, one with enigmatic charm and energy, was so joyful and full of unbounded love for Carlin. They kept the entire session playful and I am so thankful for that.
If this is any precursor to how their special day here is going to be, then I cannot wait.
Oh, while we’re on the topic of engagement sessions, I just want to say I loved their outfits. A classic tuxedo and white dress combo is and always will be in vogue. I always encourage my couples to dress well for their engagement sessions and Ben and Carlin did not disappoint.
We were lucky enough to explore the entirety of the event space and view the estate-grown grapes being processed near the tasting rooms.
I was taken aback by almost every site to be seen while walking through the vineyard: the barrels in the tasting room, the rows of grapes growing on vines, the deck so full of life with music, the view from 1500 feet above sea level – it was all so magnificent. Then there was Ben and Carlin, two of the most beautiful souls I’ve had the pleasure of encountering.
Their wedding is going to be something out of a fairytale and it will be such a pleasure to photograph it. They have plans for an elaborate floral display, live music, expert catering, and of course, me as their photographer, there to capture their big moment.
Kaya Vineyard & Winery is going to look as beautiful as it ever could come that day. I can’t wait to share what comes from it.
