Kayla and Wade were such a lovely couple to capture for their engagement session! As we strolled the streets of Savannah, I was able to learn so much about these two. What made them compatible for each other, and most importantly as a wedding photographer, what made them a compatible fit for me. Engagement sessions give us as photographers not only a chance to meet and greet with our clients well before their big day, but also to give them a little preview of how it will be to work with us. I always prefer to have my clients book an engagement session for this reason.
Choose the Right One
When shooting an engagement session, I really love to explore the city in which its captured. For Kayla and Wade, the city just so happened to be in my own back yard of Savannah, Georgia. But, even with my living here, there are all sorts of lovely little nooks and crannies just begging to be discovered. We strolled about downtown and did just that. Obviously, I have my favorite places to shoot, and not every time will I find a new spot to photograph, but its more about the journey than anything else.
While we are on our walkabout it gives us a chance to open up to one another to find out if we are a good fit for one another. This is important because when choosing a photographer for your wedding day, its important that you mesh well. That the style you are looking for is the one that they provide. And, most importantly, someone who is compatible with you on a personal level.
A proper engagement session should answer all of these questions for you. Coming out of an engagement session, you should know exactly what kind of photographer you’re getting. As well as a photographer should know the exactly what kind of client they are getting.
You want to be able to see them not only as a photographer. But, as a friend that you actually want at your wedding. A good engagement session will answer any doubts you may have.
