Sarah Ann and Jack celebrated a beautiful wedding at the Mackey House in historic Savannah, GA. The most stunning organic wedding September had to offer. Sarah Ann had her bridesmaids dressed in southern peach dresses that shone so beautifully in the soft natural light of September. Jack, fitted with a black tuxedo. The day made for a wonderful black-tie affair!(My favorite!) So, in front of the Mackey House, behind the fountain, I chose to have my amazing couple do their first look.

I’m going to take a moment to speak on first looks.

As a photographer, let me just say I LOVE THEM!

Not just because I love the reveal of the bride to the groom, in which in this case, was so emotional, I wanted to cry myself. But, truly picture your wedding day, how busy it is going to be, how many people will constantly be around you. Typically, a bride and groom on their wedding day aren’t actually alone until after the reception. So, this is a good chance to have a moment with your special someone on your big day, and relieve some of that stress and anxiety.

You’re each others favorite person for a reason.

Another reason is the lighting. Anybody who has ever even overheard me speaking in my favorite place (Target) knows I’m obsessed with lighting. Us photographers dream about lighting. Well, first looks typically offer much better lighting due to the sun’s position in the sky. In this particular instance, the first look done at the Mackey House provided such beautiful rays of light pouring down from above. It was mesmerizing.

Also, couples who do first looks get up to forty percent more photos because we are using the gap of time that is typically two hours between getting ready and the ceremony. We utilize every second of your wedding day which also relieves much of the pressure that comes with sitting and waiting. It’s just worth doing on all accounts!

Okay, I may have gotten a bit carried away, but I just LOVE first looks!

Sarah Ann, Jack you two were just the best! Once again, congratulations!
